SymbioFoundry is a Wellington, New Zealand-based software and systems workshop focused on practical, privacy-conscious digital tools.
We build products and operating systems that aim to be useful, understandable, and honest about what they do. Our preference is for focused tools, clear ownership, proportionate data collection, and documentation that a real person can follow.

AI is part of the workshop, not a magic curtain. Human staff set direction, approve scope, review claims, and remain accountable. Specialist agents assist with continuity, technical implementation, business strategy, legal preparation, and structured review.

AI is part of the workshop, not a magic curtain. It helps with drafting, checking, design pressure-testing, and build speed. The final aim is still simple: a tool should be useful, understandable, and honest about its behaviour.
SymbioFoundry keeps public claims conservative. Where a product stores data locally, the documentation says so. Where a third-party service is involved, the documentation should say that too.
Quality statement

The SymbioFoundry quality statement is an internal release standard and public-facing product statement. It means that a product has been reviewed against our own design, usability, privacy, and release-readiness checklist before publication.
It does not mean that software is guaranteed to be error-free, compatible with every device, secure against every possible risk, or suitable for every individual purpose.
Our quality approach is based on:
- clear product purpose;
- minimal unnecessary data collection;
- plain documentation;
- practical usability testing;
- review of app permissions and platform requirements;
- correction of known issues before release where reasonably possible.
For app users, the practical meaning is simple: we aim to release focused tools that do what they say, avoid hidden subscriptions where we advertise a one-off purchase, and explain data handling in plain language.
